Travelling with Pets to Europe

Moving to a new country can be stressful, especially when you're bringing your beloved pet along. To ensure a successful and stress-free move, it's essential to plan well in advance and seek the assistance of an experienced Pet Relocator.

Travelling with Pets to Europe

When relocating pets from India to Europe under the EU pet travel scheme, there are specific rules and a timeline to follow. The entire process can take up to 4 months. Here are the key steps:

Rabies Titer Test: A Rabies Titer Test must be conducted for the pet, followed by a mandatory 90-day waiting period in India from the day of blood sample collection.

Microchipping and Vaccination: Before the blood sample is drawn, the pet must be microchipped, and a rabies vaccination administered. It's crucial to wait for 30 days after the vaccination before conducting the Rabies Titer Test.

Additional Requirements: The pet will also need a valid Vaccination Book and a tapeworm treatment (for dogs). Dogs must receive the tapeworm treatment within one to five days before the scheduled arrival time in Europe.

Cargo Travel: If the pets are traveling as Cargo, they should do so within 5 days of their owner's travel to be considered a "Non-Commercial" move.

Pets can travel to Europe as both Cargo and Accompanied baggage, providing flexibility for pet owners. To avoid last-minute complications due to these rules, it's advisable to consult a seasoned Pet Relocator and start planning at least 6 months ahead of your move to Europe.
